TDR back stud

Hi guys, how does any TDR owners go about fitting a back stud on the TDR for a sling? any info would be great cheers. Wullie

You got me thinking there, so i whipped out the TDR and had a look .
Looking at mine the only place i can think of is on the taper at the bottom of the shoulder, there is enough metal to tap a thread in there.
The only other problem would be either tapping a corse thread for a stud that screws into wood or finding a stud with machine threads on it.
But i am sure there are some out there either way.

never having owned or held even, a TDR, I`m relying on google images here & a couple of thoughts have crossed my mind, ahem,
could you tie an admittedly short strap temporarily to the grip & barrel just to try, and see if it`s too uncomfortable? if not, proceed as usual using the grip, or, at the Butt plate, are those screws holding it on? if so, could the bottom one be utilised in conjunction with the strap? if not could it be drilled out then tapped then utilised?

Basically the front stud goes on the accessory rail on the bottom of the stock at the front held in place with a grub screw and for the back stud that's where the problem is as there's no where to put it except from where was mentioned above, but a loop strap can be used to go round the back and on the front stud, this is my first TDR as the weight is perfect for carting around with a UKNV kit on it, not only useful for that but comes in handy in many ways, I was up the range with it the other night and was realy impressed with this wee gun after a lot of work was done on it, just a few wee other things to do to it for it to be perfect like trigger adjustment and would like to put a trigger shoe on it to, very happy with it it's a walnut .177 in mint condition a defo wee keeper to the collection . The ajustable butt is held on by 1 screw/nut and there is a recess along the butt where if the studd was fitted it would not interfere with the movement of the butt.
I might have a look and see if i can make a custom stud for my TDR, as i already have a custom top fitting for a tripod or a sling, but not having the butt stud i never used it .

Good point there Daz, let's know how you get on with it, I'm going down to my mate that done all the work on it tomorrow and I will point this out as he is very handy with this kind of stuff, I will keep you posted if I can get one that looks tidy on the back. Wullie

I use a standard sling, with the front attached to the stud on the accessory rail, and then at the back I have the strap around the stock between the cheek piece and the butt. The sling I have has a nylon strap and a buckle and there is sufficient length to go round the stock and back through the buckle. It holds securely, the compromise is that the shoulder pad on the sling is not quite as well positioned as if the sling was attached conventionally. Avoided drilling holes though

Sounds okay Dave, as long as there no holes drilled that's the main thing, it's a leather sling that I have so will give it ago and see if it works , I've to pop down to my mates so he can have a look at it to see what can be done , the main thing is that it can go over the shoulder and feel secure cheers Dave.Wullie

sorted now, just put tape round the brass buckle to stop it marking the wood
