New hobby

Hi all
As spring and eventually summer creep around, I am considering a new hobby.
I am thinking of getting a metal detector and finding myself a nice hoard of gold coins ha ha.
As I know nothing at all about metal detecting or the best detector to start with I thought I would ask on here if anybody could give me any advice.
