2016. Researchers in the US working on the Advanced LIGO program announced the first direct observations of gravitational waves and the coalescence of stellar mass black holes thereby confirming that Mr A Einstein was actually quite a bright chap and potentially ushering in a new era in our understanding of the universe :)
