I attended Winston Churchill's funeral. A 10 year old boy got on a bus with his younger brother from the Old Kent Road to Tower Bridge which was crammed with soldiers from all over. Some Scots Guards ushered me and my kid brother to the front of Tower Bridge looking down river as the barge carrying Winston sailed by. Very sad. The silence was deafening.
