I agree with you. Donate them. I gave my Grandfathers books on forge work and blacksmithing to a friend who makes knives. He read them and said even though the books dated from 1910 etc the techniques had clearly not changed. It was all down to experience and the colour of the metal being worked. I deemed it better he have them than I keep them.

We are lucky having Beamish not to far away who are preserving aspects of Northern heritage. They are I believe moving into the fifties now.
