Review of firarms laws

Wed Dec 16, 2015 5:49 am

Just read this on the BBC.

Interesting that it proposes a "simple test" to define the lethality of a projectile based on kinetic energy.

Some of this was in the Select Committee report from a while back and a lot of shooters and representative organisations agree there needs to be a review of the number of laws and the collation of them. This is slow work - the recent Consumers Rights legislation demonstrates this where a number of laws were brought together.

Time consuming as it is it must be done. Failure to streamline various laws into one lead to potential conflicts between different laws if research is not rigorous or even myths being perpetrated amongst the less well informed.

In regards to airguns there is no doubt the word capable needs removing in relation to power limits.
