Lovely weather

Sat Sep 26, 2015 6:45 pm

Don't know about the rest of you but a fab day here in Co Durham and out on the permission. And such a lovely evening with glorious sun.

In a week our farmers have virtually finished ploughing, harrowing and sowing as well as cut the hedges and it is not a small farm but hundreds of acres. Plus they contract combine and plough on farms far and wide.

So we delivered some essential equipment to some of the permanent hides and then had a zero checking afternoon on the rimfires and centrefires in a convenient safe spot. This was to allow Pat to use a range of ammo and guns on his new permission. Turns out the farmer on this farm went to school with our farmer. Small world eh and the way to get more permissions. Billy knows all the farmers roundabout and further afield and many only work on recommendations round here. Too many village yobbos

We had not long set up and Billy drives up with a harrow to do the field, stops and says I'm not spoiling your day am I! We said No and we would expect to move on if we were getting in their way. His daughter did the same the other week. Anyway when they are done and dusted we are going to run a clay pigeon shoot for them. We've had a few before and it helps them unwind after the Harvest Home.

Rolling thunder Pat even with the can on.

I was surprised how quiet my 22 rimfire was without the mod on and more handy to move around.

Aye, the wildcat can makes a hell of a difference though in comparison to it being unmoderated. I used to shoot an unmoderated 308 for years and tbh you just used good hearing protection and got on with it. The one thing we can thank health and safety for is moderators!!! Yeh 22 subs are not that noisy without a moderator really. Lovely and quiet with one on though ;)
