I Have had all sorts of old guns. I still have a BSA airsporter mk1. I always preferred underlevers and in particular the relum underlever. I cant remember the model i had but it was a big heavy beast, incredibly acurate and looking back it was probably well over 12ft/ib. They had a double spring fitted, a smaller 1 the full length inside the main spring. Never seen this set up in any other gun and dont know what it acheived.

There were a few rifle that had two springs. Some had a full length "inner" spring and others had two springs "in line". Usually the springs were wound opposite to each other and the idea was that it would resist any "Turning" of the spring.

At 14/15 years old i was not into such specifics. Just how powerfull the gun was and would it kill what it hit. Which it did very well. :D
I think the relum i had was a relum tornado in 22. Because 22 was always a stronger gun back then ???.

Almost certainly was a Relum. I had one and unfortunately scrapped it when all the seals failed. Had I been a forum member then I would have found someone who could have recommended a fix.

I still have my first air rifle a BSA Mercury Mk2, .22, beech stock.
Used to have a Nikko Sterling 4 x 20 scope, recently changed it to a Hawke 3 x 9 x 50.
It cost £27 back in 1975, borrowed the money of my Dad to buy it.

This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me my rifle is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless.
