Heavy pellets

Fri Sep 08, 2017 3:00 pm

I have been out shooting lately with my BTAS S510, my usual pellets are either AADF 16gn 5.52 or Diablo hunters 16gn 5.50, just for a change, thought I would try some Bisley Mags 21.4 gn, these are doing 11.35ftlb 489fps, as I am mainly shooting in woods i.e. Up into the trees, so fairly short ranges the extra weight doesn't appear to give any problems, where I'm going with this is because I have just tried someone's .25 springer and I am tempted to to put a .25 onto my HW95, but after using the Heavy Bisley Mags, am left wondering if its worth the bother, plus for the price of a 95 barrel I could buy a Hatsan Striker in .25. Any thoughts. Rog :?:

old saying, beware of the man with one gun. Every one is safe with me as I have two. If you really want a .25 though, you have to get one. But what if you don't like it? who is going to buy it? smaller market for them. Even with a wider range on offer most new sales are .177/.22.

Hi, I was fascinated by the thought of a .25 rifle and in the end I bought a BSA XL in .25 and its been an accurate hard hitting rifle up to a point.
Whilst you can shoot up to 40 yds with it the trajectory is very noticable, and greater allowances must be made, similar to those of a .22 over a .177
But it does punch hard and stops squirrels close to ( 20-30 yds ) very convincingly

Continuing the interest I bought an S510 FAC in .25 and that shoots pretty flat and is a hard hitter.
Its true though that its were you place the shot thats the biggest factor
Now I can carry 12+ ft/Lbs of energy out to 150 yards, but I cant place shots anywhere that far accurately so range is limited by skill to 50-60 yards

Good Luck
