Best Pellet " An old chestnut "

Fri May 19, 2017 1:49 pm

Hi , after a few years away shooting other guns I'm back to the S410 .22 .
I've noticed it's not as accurate as I should be even with AA pellets ?
I know I'm getting older but what do you guys reckon ?
I've never used JSB Exacts, worth a try ?

I once had a BSA Super 10 that hated certain pellets (too long ago to remember) and I discovered their shape caused them to get badly shaved when the probe pushed them from the magazine. Rather short pellets i think that tipped. I only found out by pushing the pellet back out the breech with a rod (magazine out).

Hi it's a Bushnell Elite I'm using pretty good scope though doesn't do minute adjustments ?
So possibly might need to change it.

I have an S410 classic in .22 flavour, and the best pellets i find are the AA field 5.51. Pellet on pellet no problem. BUT if i use AA field 5.52 the acuracy just is not there. Just a small difference but incredible change in acuracy. I dont know why. Unfortunately every gun is different and it will take you a while to settle on the 1 you are happy with.

Hi,

What groups are you getting? I am having groups of 5p size or better at 25 yards and 2p size at 50 yards with AA Diabolo Hunters and Diabolo Fields at the moment. on a calm day that is.

Get 5p groups at 50y with my S200 and 5.52 JSB Express.
Definately worth a try.

Tried JSB RS and dont think they suited the barrel . 50 pence groups at 50y.

The difference in getting the right pellet can be amazing.

As an example , my son has a Diana Model 22 177 (looks like an old fairground gun) which he loves plinking with in the garden at 15y.

He uses some really cheap chinese pellets which shoot the size of your hand.
He run out the other day and I passed him a tin of Express the group size immediately shrunk to an inch.

Good luck Rob.
