Bipod to fit accessory rail?

Fri Apr 14, 2017 7:32 pm

Two questions: First of all, is there a proper name for the type of accessory rail that's underneath the AA S400 MPR FT, AA S510 Ultimate Sporter (and also my Feinwerkbau 800 Evolution Top match) rifles? It's not picatiny or weaver, right?

Second question: Is there a quality bipod which could slide into the accessory rail and be locked in place?

What should I be looking for?

Thanks!

You need a QD stud from Rowanengineering.com, and it's just an accessory rail. Any bipod should fit on QD stud, I use a Harris 9-13 the one that tilts. Rog

Thanks Roger,

I have Rowan's "Accessory Rail M6 T-Nut", but no locking screw to keep it in place, nor do I really know why I ordered it (several months ago). SIGH

A Google search didn't turn up a Canadian source for the Harris bipod, and the Harris site in the US doesn't make it clear (at least to me) whether or not it attaches to a QD stud. Do you think the HBLS (strange model names) would work?

Also, since you have one, are you happy with the 9-13 inch height of yours? Is it maybe too high for shooting off a bench/table?

Thank you!

I am more than happy with my 9~13 but they do a 6-9 which might be better for benchrest, just make sure you get one that swivels, and yes it will fit QD stud, I have one on an ultimate stock and another on an MPR both work ok. Rog

Thank you (again) Roger!

I've ordered the Harris HBLMS 9" - 13" swivel bipod with notches. Plus an adapter #HB6 which should slide into the accessory rail of my S400 MPR FT (or even my FWB 800 Evolution Top). Plus the bipod should fit onto the sling stud of the S510 Ultimate Sporter which I'm ordering on Tuesday when my dealer reopens after Easter.

Cheers!
