I have just fitted an Airmax 30 3-12x50 SF AMX ret to an S400, it was on zero within a few clicks, tried it on small spinners out to 50 yds and was ok, the scope that it has replaced is a Hawke nite-eye 4-16x50 AO IR, I only really use 8 mag for hunting, the nite- eye seems to have a wider FOV and a brighter image then the Airmax and the only reason I wanted to change it was because the Airmax has SF and half mil dots. I am not sure if the Airmax is the way to go for me and will be having another go with it tomorrow, Rog

Right, here we go with update on Airmax 30 3-12x50 IR AMX ret. I took this to my club today and fitted it to one of my own S400s this is the rifle that had the nite-eye 4-16x50 on, I used the indoor 25yd range and set up on bench bags, I tried it at 8 mag and 12mag, I put about 200 odd pellets down the range enough to tell me what I needed to know, am sorry to say that it does not appear to want to hold zero, I was getting 2 or 3 pellets on the money then it would put another 2 or 3 to the right, I re zeroed to the new group and again it would start to group to the right, getting slightly frustrated I refitted the nite-eye and proceeded to get a one hole group which proves to me that there is a problem with this Airmax and I will be returning it to the supplier, I imagine this is a one off problem as other people seem to get on ok with these scopes. One more thing the clicks on the turrets are not all that positive, and the locking system is not that nice either.Rog
