Shot count can be improved with a regulator as the amount of air per shot it metered using the desired valve stand off spacer plus the gun can be filled to a higher pressure thus holding a greater volume of air and not affecting the shots as each one is set to whatever the reg is so no harder tension on the valve in doing so which would create a bigger power curve. I too have a carbine s410 and they do guts more air than a classic rifle.(Mines running 38fpe - 20 shots).
