What the Hell .....

Sat Feb 04, 2017 5:47 pm

Hi everbody,
After posting in the tech section that my S400 had developed an air leak and getting some quick and helpful answers i have just taken the action out of the stock to have a look and found the air gauge dog leg covered in tool marks and chewed up edges.
Worst still is the fact that one of the bolts that holds the cylinder to the bolt housing is MISSING. :o :o :o
However, all the Anti Tamper discs are still in place.
This is on a brand new rifle bought just over 3 months ago.
Looks like I will be contacting the shop I got it from very soon.
Does anybody here have any consumer rights advise as I could use some right about now.
Talk about gutted :(

Your rights are as in the new 2015 act.
Your claim is from the shop not Air Arms
At 3 months they must be given the right to repair or replace to a good standard.
If they disagree it is Small Claims Court against the shop not AA

http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2015/15/contents

Taking off thr stock is maintenance as per AA videos and should not affect your claim.

As I have said before if I was Air Arms I would pay someone like Sheila to spend an hour a day reading this forum and jump in on posts like this and follow through
if appropriate. They will suffer the reputation damage even though it could be a fast one by the shop. I wouldn't name the shop just yet. Give them a chance to fix it.

I am going to be careful what i say but i would be very surprised if it did leave the factory like that.
If that is so they should hang their heads in shame.
It does look like someone has had a go at it, if you know what I mean.
A brand new gun should not be like this.
As Peter has said, i will not name the shop until they have had a chance to put this right but i want this sorted to MY satisfaction, not anybody elses'.
After all I paid for a brand new, factory fresh gun. NOT one that has already had an attempted repair, IF that is what has happed here.
I am not saying that is what has happened here but i am not happy either way :(

Ok, so I have now contacted both the dealer and Air Arms themselves by email and will let you all know what happens. :?

It might be worth remembering that, since you are past the first 30 days, you do not have to show that the fault was present when you bought the gun, the retailer has to show that it was not.

Depending on what the retailer says, I suggest you speak to the Citizens Advice Consumer helpline on 03454 04 05 06, especially if you think you might want to take the legal route.

Good luck

Alan

Cheers for that number Alan. I hope it does not have to go that way but it is better to be prepared, just in case.
Will let you all know as soon as I hear anything. :?
