Purge S400 air cylinder?

Sat Sep 24, 2016 5:10 pm

Is there any way to purge all the air from the cylinder on the AA S400 MPR FT? I want to play around with trigger adjustments and just cannot do it (because of the noise) during the day because this gun (unlike my Steyr pistol or springer rifles) cannot really be dry fired. It can be fired without a pellet, but air is always discharged when you do it and it's pretty loud.

When I had my CZ 200T (sold by AA as the S200 I think) it came with a "degaussing" tool which screwed onto the cylinder to allow all the air to be removed. Is there such possibility with the S400?

Thanks!

You don't have to empty cylinder, take cover off trigger sears and push top sear up, this will make it seem that rifle is cocked, make your adjustments and pull trigger, just don't cock rifle. Rog

Great! Thanks very much for the tip.

I've searched, unsuccessfully, for any visual guide to doing this. Would you know of one?

I don't know of a visual guide, but once you have cover plate off trigger ( 2 screws ) you will see 3 sears, the one at the top with the spring is the one you push up, the trigger will then appear to be cocked, the 2 screws in the trigger are the 1st & 2nd stage adjusters, back out the one nearest to trigger blade, then turn other one in until trigger fires then back it out a small amount until it has no effect on trigger, reset top sear and turn in 2nd stage until trigger fires again, now back out again until it also has no effect, you will be able to see what's happening as you make your adjustments. I intend adding trigger visuals to my Youtube channel soon.
I must say that firing with the barrel end against a large towel usually dulls the noise for most indoor locations for final adjustments.

Thanks Peter, but my office is an art gallery (and picture framing) and even that would be too loud when staff and customers are around. But in any case, I was at a field target competition today (tied for third... do NOT ask how many competitors!!!!) and one of the fellows with an AA S400 (not MPR) was kind enough to help me adjust the trigger without even needing to remove the stock and side plate. It's really quite good right now and I'm happy.

Cheers!

I was thinking about your home. If I had even taken an air rifle to the office my retirememt would have been earlier and less generous.

Fantastic Peter!!!!! That's a great video and it removes all the mystery from the innards of the trigger mechanism. Extremely helpful!

Thank you for making and posting that video.
