Knee Riser for S400 MPR FT?

Sat Sep 24, 2016 1:34 pm

I need to get a knee riser block for my AA S400 MPR FT and cannot find one listed from the Canadian AA source.

Can you make any suggestion about what might be available (and where to get it)? Should it be wood to match the stock, or is one of the metal ones a better idea?

I've never used one before, but trying to find a steady field target sitting position is proving a bit difficult for me and I think a knee riser would help. Are they adjustable at to how much height/lift they offer?

Any tips?

Thank you.

Is what I'm looking for called a "Hamster"???

(If so, why not a gerbil, turtle or dachshund?)

AirArms used to do one, not sure if that's still the case, I have one on an MPR stock made by rowanengineering. Com and that's the one I reckon you need, have a look. And yes Hamster, don't think anybody knows why it's called that.Rog

After doing rather poorly at a field target competition today, I came home and experimented with a block of wood that gave the same lift as the Rowan "hamster" would. After a few shots getting used to it, I found it was a tremendous improvement to my stability. So I went ahead and ordered the one from Rowan. (The cheaper one, not the one that would be almost close to what I paid for the used rifle!)

The lift is supposed to be about 140mm from the center of the barrel and that's about what my wood (good wood!) gave me. Amazing difference in stability!

Cheers!

Too late! As I said in my message a few days ago, I already ordered the one from Rowan Engineering.

The Maestro looks interesting, but it appears that the bottom plate would need something added to it... maybe a rubber non-skid bottom, or a piece of wood, or something. Looks cold and slippery as is.

And the price seems to be between the basic Rowan one and the high-end model they offer.

Glad you're sorted, didn't notice you'd ordered the Rowan, nice job. You're right about the metal foot on the SAS but I used that to take a piece out to make an adjustable cheek rest for one of my stocks and just made a hardwood foot to bolt into the SAS. It is a lot cheaper and works very well once you get used to the controls as it were.

You'll love the Rowan one,

Dojo.
