BRASS BLING

Thu Aug 13, 2015 2:03 pm

Hi
Im thinking of adding a few custom Brass parts to my Tx and Prosport.
Can anyone whos added brass to their rifles answer this.

Do you have to get the brasso out to stop it looking tarnished often?
Or does the brass keep its shine with a wipe over.

Brass will naturally tarnish with time.

Your choices are to either polish it when it does, or polish it and then clear varnish it to exclude air.
Varnish will also fade and discolour over time. It can also chip.

I would just re-polish as required.

Thanks for the advise. I suppose it wouldnt be too much hassle to use that cotton wool type brasso, when needed.
I thought it might tarnish if not kept up.
Many thanks

Are you going to 'Bling' it and then start wrapping camo tape around the moderator and wear a disruptive pattern jacket to hide you from the bunnies. Nice to do but never quite seen the point. No different that tarting up a car I suppose.
