pressure over flow valve

Sun Aug 09, 2015 7:15 pm

hi dose anyone know if the air arms s400f has a over flow valve if u fill it with to much air or if the temp gets to high and cause the pressure to go up cause I was out shooting yesterday and after I took a shot all the air leaked out of my gun really fast but I pumped it back up today and it seams to be holding

thanks guys

No... The cylinder has the ability to blow its seals out if it is grossly overfilled as a safety precaution..

If your gun lost all of its air after taking a shot it would indicate that the firing valve was unable to close... Either there was a bit of crap stopping it or the air left in the cylinder was insufficient to overcome the firing valve force..

I would suspect the latter as it is now holding air..

Dont let the pressure drop below 50 bar or it will dump the remaining air due to not having enough pressure in the cylinder to keep the valve closed.

Hi,

"The filling pressure of the S410F is 190 bar (2755psi). Filling to a higher pressure will not increase either power or number of shots. Over filling will lower the power and may cause irreparable damage to the cylinder."

The above is taken from the manual available online. Besides filling to 190 bar gives low powered shots as the hammer struggles to open the firing valve. Most owners fill to something like 160/170 bar and shoot down to 100 or so. The cylinder is designed to 'blow' it's seals but having done so is then scrap as it deforms in order to do this.
