s410 carbine mounts.

Wed Jul 08, 2015 10:04 pm

Please help. I have the above rifle and I am trying to find a half decent set of scope mounts that don't let the scope catch on the magazine. Scope in question is a nikko sterling 4x16-44
Thank you in advance.

Hi,

Don't know about your scope in question but my own S410 has medium mounts fitted to a variety of scopes and clearance has not been a problem. Best bet is to take your rifle and scope into a RFD and check clearance before purchase.

Edit;- Just looked at my .22 S410 and that rifle has Sportsmatch H07 mounts (high). That said there is 6-7mm clearance between magazine and the bottom of the scope saddle so I could have used T03 mounts (medium) and still had clearance. As above try and see before you buy.

Mark, cheers for the reply. I will give it a go next time I'm by one. The ones on the rifle when I purchased it second hand must be short one's. Is there any way of knowing, I don't know if there is any fixed sizes or measurements for small, medium or large mounts?

Hi,

Sportsmatch's website gives the all important scope rail to bottom of scope tube dimension. I have just measured The magazine and I reckon it sticks up about 14mm. Some scope saddles drop below the scope tube by say 3mm. This means that you need a mount that will give the rail to tube dimension of at least 17mm. The T03 mount gives 19mm and the taller by an extra 5mmm at 24mm. This link http://www.sportsmatch-uk.com/products may help. Hawk high mounts give 22mm with a link here:- http://www.hawkeoptics.co.uk/match-moun ... -high.html. Hope this helps.

Mark,

Again thank you for your help. Out of interest would a scope touching the magazine put the occasional shot off target?

Hi,

... suppose it could do especially if it was more than just touching. Would have thought that all shots would have been affected though not just one or two. More likely to be the fault of the nut behind the trigger ;)
