I haven't tried Vortek. I have tried V Mach, various other concoctions of my own and a TbT guide and hat and short stroke.
I've reached the point where I believe there isn't anything that makes a huge improvement over a snug guide and decent lube. A short stroke means you need way more preload, I think you're better off keeping the power to about 11 ftlbs and trying different weight pellets and tophats.

It can become an unrewarding quest... believe me 8-) my experience and fettling has been mainly with full length TX's but, the guts are basically the same.
In addition to the sage advice of Timmytree I would recommend a thorough de-greasing and then a "less is more" approach to lubrication. I tried red rubber grease on springs but, I found it degraded and balled up rather quickly, so now just sticky chain lube on the spring and a modicum of Mr Popes alchemy elsewhere.
My V-Mach internals remain (so far) the sweetest, <4fps deviation through the seasons (and it gets hot here!) with JSB Express at around 11.8 ft/lbs (safe here as we have a 14.75 legal limit). But, my own obsession for improved hold-sensitivity means that I am about to install and review Nick G's radical short stroke components, we shall see :?:
Without question my Gary Cane custom laminate stocks have made a big difference (fit and weight impact on reducing movement) to consistency.
I do hope to bring it all to a close soon and do what matters most, putting the hours in practicing
