Piston seal removal?

Thu Jul 02, 2015 5:17 pm

I’ve bought a Tinbum short stroke kit which comes with a new piston seal. Will the old seal be destroyed when I remove it i.e. will I have to “dig” it out.

No, dip the seal end of the piston in hot water for a few seconds and carefully lever it off with a blunt blade, once you lift an edge you can normally use your fingers.

Then you have to raid the kitchen for an icing bag nozzle to slip the new seal onto the piston

I short stroked my tx 22 it's worked out very well but I don't think I would try the same with my 177 pro sport because of the power loss , you would have to shim the spring up to much to get the power back, which would make it harsher again which would defeat the object .

Hi. I took the short stroke off after about 20 shoots. The power dropped down to 9.5 ish and I didnt find the hold sensativity was any better plus the cocking stroke was a lot harder. I dont know if it was because it was a TX HC but I gave it a try.
