For future reference, you could try the bramble trick next time that will fish them out in no time.

Find a long piece of bramble, strip the leaves off and poke it down the hole, wind it round like a corkscrew as you're doing it. The spikes will catch and twist up in the rabbits fur and you can then pull it out.
