Back at it.

Fri Apr 10, 2015 12:05 am

After the disappointing short trip the other day when the S410 decided to vent all its air at the crucial moment today was time to put things right.

After getting the rifle back up to pressure I spent the morning putting 15 mags of pellets through it trying out various ranges from 20 to 60 yds to get back into form and keep a check on the pressure reading. Zeroed at 30yds and happy with groupings out to 40yds but not confident with 50 or 60 like last year, so 40 would be my maximum killing range today.

Earlier in the day set up the hide by the veggie patch and settled down at 7pm after placing a marker stick at 30yds:

First rabbit came out at spot on 40yds, half a mildot over it dropped neatly and cleanly. For the next half an hour another eight rabbits ventured out but were all around the 60yd point so left these and waited for something nearer. Then a woodie came in for an end of day snack on the curly kale in the veggie patch, that was his last meal. Still lots a rabbits out at 60-70yds so must make up another hide nearer in the future. As the light was fading a couple of young rabbits bounded out and one of these was added to the bag for ferret food.

Going to decoy for pigeons tomorrow on some new drillings.

Chris.

Its good to see your back on track. Lets hope your rifle has settled down after the down time it had.
