Finally a decent evening and a decent bag! I've had the odd rabbit here and there but my heart wasn't really in it until I had a text from the lady at the B&B to say there was 4 rabbits on the lawn in the middle of the day! I had already had a plinking session and checked zero on both rifles so I put the S200 in the car and went to look round the stables. Managed to stalk up to an adult in open ground, got to 44 yards by the lrf and decided that was close enough, just over half a mildot and the first rabbit was bagged.
Then up to the B&B, as I pulled into the car park there was one juvenile on the front lawn, it stayed put until I shot it from the car at about 15 yards and then it bounced about like a demented jack in the box. The back lawn had 2 adults feeding, 1 of these was showing signs of recovering from myxi so I took the other. A quick peek over the fence showed a number of rabbits in the field so I picked the healthiest looking one in range and popped an AA Field in the perfect place, no twitch or kick, just a slow drop to the grass. I gathered up the bounty and returned to the stables for a chat with Bernard and to let him have a few for the dogs.
I finished the evening by going to the big grass field with the pond, it was cut for silage yesterday so I drove round in 1st gear on dipped beam and picked off another 5, lovely easy shooting.
I was surprised at the numbers here because I've been seeing very few by daylight.
Finally the winter blues are gone!
A pic of the 5 from the field.
Great fun!

Sounds like you had a good evenings sport and a nice sized bag to boot, doesn't get much better than that Your lucky you can get that close to them with out too much agro, round here you can see signs of plenty and see them from a distance but they're so skittish getting in to air rifle range is becoming quite an ask Hopefully when the young ones start to show themselves they'll bit a bit less wary for a while at least
