Hi could some please suggest a good size scope for an Pro Sport, I am in the process of filling my shopping basket and cant decide. I am going to use it for back garden plinking at 30 yards, down at the range and then for quarry in the field so a good all rounder the closes rang I'd be taking shots will be around 8 yards for rats and the up 40+ depending on what my max range is. my budget will be around £140 Many thanks

I would tend to agree with Granville, I've got Mamba lites on both rifles, for me they are superb for the money and easily focus down to 10 yards, I 'm not sure if the SCB reticle is still available though and they are slightly outside your budget. You will need AO adjustment for that range, you'll find side focus is easier to use than front focus in the field . Again, try and look through as many as possible, what suits my eyes may not suit yours. Don't be taken in by fancy names and numbers especially on cheaper scopes.
The AAOC meet is in April, if you can wait and get to the meet you'll get a chance to look through a good selection and maybe try a few rifles as well.

I am sold on the Hawke TAC30 Sidewinder. Fixed mag at 10X - 42mm objective, 1/2 mildot spacing, great rangefinding with the side wheel, 30mm tube so plenty of light and a bright image.
Pick up a good second hand piece like I did and it will fit your budget.

I think that depends on the individual and the type of hunting. I shoot on 10X nearly all the time, mostly static over decoys or warrens and using sticks. The only time I drop to 6X is in low light.
