Some good observations there and yes indeed they are clever creatures.
Years ago when I was a kid my old man recounted a tale that he had seen a crow hanging upside down by one leg from a powerline. He stopped the car and had a closer look expecting to see the bird with its claws somehow tangled in the wire. But to his surprise the crow just just sat up as normal and then was joined by another which landed next to it and promptly copied the first by hanging upside down by one leg.
For years we ridiculed him over this tale until in my twenties whilst pike fishing on the Somerset Levels a crow came flying in, landed on powerline opposite and then hung upside down by one leg!
