Hello All

Thu Mar 30, 2017 1:25 pm

Came across your club when searching for Crowning problems or the lack of. I recently bought a new S400f that performs very poorly against my old S400 sold years ago. I supected that the barrel was faulty in some way and on viewing the crown it did not look right. I have included 3 pics of the muzzles of my HFT-500(to be tested), my S200 mark III and this S400f. What do you think?

I found a serious issue with my HFT-500 easily sorted but not easily found that I will post later.

Ring AA and speak to Sheila about these issues , if they don’t know there's a problem they can't do anything about them . she's a lovely lady and AA need to know about any issues their customers are having.

I did use their web messaging sytem this morning about the HFT 500 problem copied below and the reply back was to return the rifle. I have sorted this problem simply by turning the buffer support away from the barrel. This way I don't affect the warranty by reducing the buffer height.

'There is no clearance between the air stripper and the rubber grommet on the buffer support when filled to 175 bar. There is still no gap at 150bar. This touching seriously affects the accuracy of the rifle but when the Air stripper is removed then accuracy returns. Surely this issue should have been picked up by your quality control?
Rifle purchased from Idleback Rotherham on 8th March 2017.'

I think the crowning issue is more serious but I am unable to send photos to Air arms but I will speak Sheila.

Thanks for your advice.

The HFT 500 and the S200 barrels have more grooves (12) compared to the S400F (only 10). Leaving crowning and twist rate to one side for a minute, the 12 groove rifling, in my limited experience with air rifles, gives you a better result.
