Hi !
New user here .
I've been reading the forum posts trying to understand more about how to get the most out my TX200.
I read that one should polish the spring ends.
How is that done?

Piece of wet & dry abrasive paper, a fiat surface, a little oil for lubricating and rub / rotate the spring end until mirror polished to your satisfaction.

I think that would shorten it rather than polish it! Its a gentle hand process. Think more 2000 wet and dry paper or finer to take off any high spots then preferably an old leather belt flat on the bench and metal polish paste like Solvol Autosol or Tormek sharpening paste. Wash it all off before reassembly.

Use wet and dry, finest grade. Apply autosol paste, or light oil. Place the paper on a sheet of glass to keep flat. Hand polish until mirror finish. Clean spring, rebuild using the appropriate Lube.

Auto shop should keep fine wet and dry paper for car paintwork. If they dont have Autosol they should have rubbing or cutting paste for finishing paintwork.

Well, we have some auction and 2nd hand sites, but the stuff there is normally too expensive. Or junk. I prefer international ebay sites.

Re: How to polish the Spring ends
After using abrasive paper I would go for just the Dremel paste on a piece of thick leather like an old trouser belt, flat on the bench. They used to sharpen open razors that way.
My Tormek chisel sharpener has a rotating leather wheel for final polish.
