Used TX200 MKlll

I just purchased a used TX200 MKllll. It is a beautiful walnut stock. The rifle was used for 4 months and the owner went to pcp. I would like to know what finish material is used to finish their stocks. The stock I have is high gloss finish and not very well done. I want to dull the finish to a satin sheen. I have refinished many stocks, with beautiful results. Do most of the Tx200s come with satin stock finish?. I think the former owner must have sprayed a finish over the original finish. It is gritty and not well done. I can't imagine Air Arms sending one out that looks like this one.

Hi Tom
The three walnut TX's that I have purchased new we're all all oiled, I imagine sprayed on (time & cost) and had a mat finish, they were all also rather dry and thirsty.
There are many folks on here who have experience of treating / renovating, try a PM to Geordie who also has crafted many outstanding walnut stocks from scratch, I am sure he can guide you well.

I stripped the stock with CitriStrip. I waited until dried and put a sealer coat on it. After twenty four hours I'll put on another coat. After I finish I'll post a picture and maybe someone could tell me if I have it finished, the right way. It already looks darker than it did. I like the darker wood.

I finally finished the TX200s stock. I think this is a much better look.
