Pro sport slings

As I am now in spring only mode and have to carry a pro sport around a wood I want to attach a sling.
I am not keen on drilling holes in walnut so the questions are : Can a sling be attached to the butt pad screws via a leather strap without tearing screws out and can a sling be attached to the barrel shroud without causing damage.

First day out in springer mode I shot a grey squirrel in the head at 40 yards. PCP accuracy without all the messing about.

I have attached a leather strap to the butt screws and have a leather loop on the barrel. As long as the sling is adjusted so that the barrel is above shoulder height, the loop does not slide up and off the barrel. Works very well and loop can be pulled off the barrel by stretching sling, when required. Simple but effective.
