BKL mounts

May I enquire of those using the above on a TX what their experience is, particularly vs Sportsmatch and especially those shooting FT / HFT. Of particular interest is wether they really do mount precisely centrally on the dovetails?.
All Sportsmatch mounts pull the scope towards the fixed side of the clamps which is bothersome (I am of course aware of the fully adjustable ATP66 which can be set up to compensate).
Thanks in advance...

Sake, i use BKL doulble strap mounts on my PCP EV2 and Sportsmatch one piece on my springer Pro sport. my opinion is that the BKL mounts are the better of the two. the design of the BKL does give a centralised position. With the traditional design, the mounts tend to cant to one side. As an FT shooter the BKL give a slightly higher position.
i would buy BKL again, expensive, but in my opinion worth it.
Gary.

Thanks Gary, good to know. All came out of some zeroing /range frustrations, will find some more patience / time and then decide.

no problem, i have turned them through 180 degrees to see if they still align and they do. the double strap are belt and braces on a PCP. i have not tried them on my springer but i would say i would have no hesitation, and would have full faith in them. i rate them very highly.
Gary.

BKL mounts every time. No compromise. Perfect (as is practical) alignment.

I have them on my ProSport and TX200 HC, and with the dovetail clamp screws tightened to 4Nm (35lbin) as recommended by BKL, there is no hint of scope creep.

A few words of caution though: Make sure the dovetails and clamps are grease free before tightening. Do not apply any lubricant to the screws (it could result in over-tightening). Check the calibration of your torque wrench. Ensure both mounts are correctly engaged on the dovetails before tightening.

The only issue I have with BKL mounts is the 9/64" A/F socket head screws. While BKL do supply an Allen key, it's not much use if you want to use a torque wrench. However, I know it's a bit fiddly, but the first time I fitted BKL mounts, I slid a tube over the long arm of the Allen key, and with a spring balance, used the torque = force x radius formula to apply the correct torque. For example, if the Allen key is now 10" long, you need to apply 3.5lb to the end (3.5lb x 10in = 35lbin), etc........... Needless to say, I've now invested in a 3/8" drive x 9/64" hex bit from Ebay to fit my torque wrench. I did consider Aralditing the tube to the Allen key, but was fearful of over-tightening the saddle clamp bolts.

I hope this is useful.

Don't forget they come in different dovetail sizes ;)
I only use them, both on air rifles and powder burners.

Have used the BKL 260 1-piece for years. I'm a bit heavy on the allen wrench and have broken and stripped screws. Can't recall the size, but there is one that's just a touch larger than the factory screws. I have a tap for these. I spin the screw in a drill and hold the head against a file to shave it down a fraction so it fits the recess in the mount. Again, only needed if you strip a screw. I gave up on Sports Match because they seem to sit crooked and a slight bit too tight and you crunch the scope tube. The BKL mounts don't seem to mark the scope even if I go a little over on the torque.
