Afternoon Guys
I have an s510 ultimate sporter, I' bought the rifle new a couple of weeks ago and have put approx 500 pellets through it
Today I had the chance to borrow a mates chrono and decided to do some testing at my local range.
I'm not new to pcp air rifles as I also own a 410 carbine and I'm familiar with power curves etc
I filled the s510 to 190 bar to shoot a 60 shot string over the chrono, and the results were quite strange.
Instead of the numbers increasing and then settling out and then dropping as they do with my s410, they started high and just decreased.
The results as follows
784.1
783.6
783.6
780.6
783.8
782.5
784.4
783.4
782.3
784.2
Pressure reading from gun was 175 bar approx
2nd magazine
784.6
784.8

758.2
755.0
Pressure reading from gun 135 bar approx
4th magazine
759.2
755.4
755.6
757.8
752.8

739.4
Pressure reading from gun 120 bar approx
5th magazine
737.8
728.1
736.2
725.2
720.4

697.2
692.9
697.0
687.6
686.8
687.5
681.8
675.1

This wasn't the results I was expecting and looks odd.
Can anybody shed any light on this, is it normal or do I have a problem
Thanks in advance Tony.

I can't comment on those figures (yet) as my own S510 Ultimate Sporter will only be arriving on Tuesday. (Been hoping it would arrive for this weekend, but alas.)

Is your gun .177 or .22?

Mine will be .22.

I'm guessing that yours is the 12 ft lb version? Mine is the Xtra FAC, but if yours is also, are you running it at full power or some other setting?

It's .177 and sub 12ft lbs, I just can't understand why I have t got a power curve as you'd expect from a non regulated gun

cant comment as to what is "wrong" .. I have a two Ultimate sporters .. ones regulated / tuned etc and one original .. my original non fettled one does not have a drop off curve like that .. between 190 and 10 bar its +/- 20 fps

Sorry cant hep but agree yours is bizarre

Could be the power adjusting screw, they can turn themselves in and reduce the power sometimes, I have seen this happen on a couple of S510s at my club, they start off high and slowly reduce in power, just like you are experiencing. Rog

I assume the grub screw would locked in place by another crub screw though, unless a second grub screw wasn't fitted.

They used to have a second grub screw. Due to the fireing pot being out of adjustment, some grub screws may have been unscrewed to correct the power level and then not leaving any room for a lock off.

Ok I see what your saying, so I guess it's going back to AirArms then.

Two thoughts. First, are you sure you filled to 190 bar or thereabouts? These results would be perfectly ok if they were just the second part of the power curve and the gun had only been filled to say 150 bar. Did your cylinder gauge and your gun gauge both agree on 190?

Second, could this be a chrono problem? Can you try another one? It doesn't look like it, but I've done a lot of work with a lot of chronos lately and found that quite a few of them are way out and can give really strange results.

Other than that, since it's a new gun, I agree, back to AA.

Hi,

As the above poster says. It does look like the back end of a normal power curve and has only 18 shots in the sweet spot  As they share the same valve components then you should get a curve like your S410's. Are you sure it is a 190 bar fill. Is the dive cylinder's gauge reading correctly?
