AA S400 Classic service

Sat Jan 14, 2017 5:11 pm

New to the forum so please be gentle.

Picked up a 2005 S400 Classic last week and it appears to be loosing air over a few days after a full charge (190). It look pretty easy to get at everything on these earlier models so I'd like to service it myself, well, new O rings really.

Any pitfalls to keep my eye out for when stripping the gun down?

Also, where's the best place to get a service kit and what kind of cost are we looking at?

Many thanks for any info,

Cheers Jon

Hi,

My favourite place for them to leak is from the pressure gauge aluminium block O-rings. This thread (viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3664) worth a look as covers most of what you are asking. As for price I think I've done mine for about £35 including changing some bits that were probably ok anyway. That includes the main firing valve, all springs and o-rings.

Right, new O rings fitted to all the joints I could easily get at. The only ones I couldn't were where the barrel meets the receiver block(?) and the fitting at the muzzle end of the air chamber which requires what looks like a circlip tool or similar.

Is the barrel locked in place by the small screws on top of the receiver block?

Can the fitting at the end of the chamber be removed with a circlip tool or do I need something more substantial?

Hammer rail polished and left dry.

So, service completed and now holding air indefinitely. Very happy with how easy it all is.

Great news. Don't forget to put it over a chrono.
