s400 mpr convert to multi shot with left hand bolt

Tue Dec 13, 2016 5:18 pm

Hi,
I want to purchase an s400 mpr precision for 10m, but only if it's practical to convert the rifle from single shot to multi shot. Which spares need I buy to pull this off? I'm familiar with the Rowan Engineering multi shot adapter but I'd rather not have to use my hand to advance the magazine. Just cycle the bolt.
I also would want to convert the right hand gun to a leftie. I'd appreciate your advice. I realize it'd be easier to simply buy an s410 classic and use the grubscrew to lower the power, but I'm assuming the mpr is more accurate, in the right hands.

you mean you want to convert it to 12 ftlb multi shot and not for 10m any more? If so there's too much to change. It doesnt even have the normal firing pot. You can probably use the bolt the trigger unit and the barrel and not much else.

I mean I'd like to convert the mpr to a multi-shot (but keep the 6 ft lb power).

To get the 410 indexing side plate would need a new bolt housing at least, and I am pretty sure that needs 2 of the screws connecting it to the lower parts screwed up from below. However the mpr precision has 6 screws from the top with no anti tamper like the older ones. Check out the parts diagrams at Rotherys (whole sale only but the diagrams are clear) to see the parts. Julian in the spares section of the forum can supply them.
Its possible Rowan Engineering have a multi shot magazine for the S400 that fits the S400 Precision.
I am not sure why you need rapid reload on a slow fire discipline but I guess you have a reason. Is this a disability requirement?

Hi,

Basically as TenMetrePeter above says but I think he means finding a the early pre anti-tamper (there are 2 types of anti-tamper ones .. two bolts underneath and all bolts underneath) S410 bolt housing which has all six bolts fitted from above. I have this on my oldest s410. It also assumes that the barrel is the same diameter else you will have to have the S410 block 'adjusted' if that's do-able. I get the feeling that the barrels on the MPR are a larger diameter than the standard 12mm S410 ones but I'm sure Peter can give a definite answer on this. As mentioned try Rowan to see if their mag conversion will fit. It's probably an 8 shot though if it does.

14mm barrel.

BTW in my range we would insist on the mag being removed to change targets. ISSF rules define a gun being loaded if there is a pellet "in contact with any part of the gun"

Thank you for your responses. I'll check the diagrams at Rotherys and with Julian for the parts.
My only reason for wanting a multi-shot is laziness-I'd rather load eight or ten at once than one at a time and since I don't compete I don't have to worry about being outside of rules.
