S400 Charging to 100bar

Sat Aug 06, 2016 10:45 am

Hi folks, I posted in a different section about the troubles I was having with my S400 yesterday - basically, it's not fired a pellet in 7 years and wouldn't hold a charge. Ive replaced a few O rings today and it now holds pressure but it is only charging to approx 100 bar. Is this showing me that my bottle needs refilling or could something else be causing it?

Regards

Chris

I would refill the scuba tank and try again.

Hi Peter, thats what im thinking, unfortunately the bottle will need testing first. It was born in 2007 and never been done. Its never even been refilled since i bought it in 2008.

Just means leaving it at the dive shop for a couple of days and forking out about 30 quid. If you have a non diving valve that will be "in test" for another 5 years.

Thanks Peter, there's a large dive shop near me. I'll get it into them on Monday

If you have the surface valve with a gauge and bleed screw grab a blanking plug such as https://www.ronniesunshines.com/300-bar ... nking-plug you can then screw in blanking plug, open cylinder valve check bottle pressure, close valve, bleed and remove blanking plug

It looks like a useful addition to the shooters kit

I am sure I dont need to remind folk that make sure you have a bleed valve :) otherwise you will pressurise the blanking plug in place and even when you close the valve you will not be able to remove the blanking plug
