S200 altaros reg set up

Mon Apr 25, 2016 9:28 pm

Hi have a s200 .177. Have wound out transfer port screw. Adjusted hammer spring and getting at best 11lb/ft.
Have a bit more adjustment but it's making cocking obviously harder. Tried winding it in more and power slightly dropped oddly. Spring is genuine and new too.
Not sure we're to go from here. Would making a small adjustment to reg improve things

Thanks

David

There is one more spring to take care of - Valve Spring (35). This is adjusted by screwing out Valve Cap (34) on page 9 of the attached manual. http://cdn.pyramydair.com/site/manuals/S200-manual.pdf

By winding the Valve cap out, you will make the job of the Hammer spring easier and this will let you gain power with less tension on the hammer spring. However, winding both out too much will cause erratic power because things are not tight enough to hold consistency.

As a guide, screw in the Valve cap (34) all the way in, then unscrew till it is 10mm deep from the face of End Plug, Firing Valve (38). :) You will need a vernier with a depth bar or a depth gauge ... or a biro stuck in the hole and them measured will also do.

Hi Raj
Thanks for reply. I did wind in valve screw to 10mm it was originally 8mm. Had another chrono this evening. Best I got was 760fps with one low power shot. Did wind hammer Spring right in. This oddly dropped the power so wound back out a couple of turns to get it back to consistent 750-760fps. Any thoughts?

If the springs have been taken care of, then yes, the regulator setting is the next port of call. If the regulator is not letting enough air out per shot, it will need opening up a little. Ideally, the reg. and springs should between them give you a power level of about 11.5 ft. lbs and then, the venturi screw should rein thos back to 11.3 or thereabouts.
If havent got instructions, just e-mail Altaros and they will guide you on how to open up the regulator. Takes around 24 hours for them to reply.
