Hi guys,
Just getting round to set the power on my air arms s400, was thinking about using bisley mags for power setting,any idea what flbs to set it with bis mags so no way a jsb,h&n or aa pellet will will go over 12flbs?
Also what pressure in the gun would you perform these tests with?

Lee if your going too set the rifle up using bisley mags too say 11flbs stick with bisleys
Or if you set up with a light pellet stick with that light pellet

Really! Just asumed that that a 8.4 grain pellet could never go over if i set it with a heavy pellet ie 10.6 grain magnum.

What I'm saying is pick a good reliable make pellet set your rifle up using that make pellet and stick too that pellet only.at least you will have the peace of mind knowing what youve set it too is where it will stay.
You should only have a problem if you chop and change between makes and weights with out running it over a chrono everytime

Get what your saying pal,they any good them bisley mags? Do air arms guns like them?

I used too use bisley pest control on the rats with good results in my s410
In my other s410 i used aa field on the rabbits
I've. Just seen your other post both my s410 were 22
In my s200 .177 i used bsa elites my s200 loved them

when i first changed to jsb heavy 10.3g from jsb exact 8.44g, my rifle (pcp) was more efficient ny 0.5 ft/lbs. set around 11.5 ft/lbs you will be fine. recheck when the temp rises though as you can get power climb.

I have found that its not just the weight of the pellet, but how the pellet fits the barrel. A loose, or tight fit will also effect the end result. Best pellets for the air arms and Webley that I shoot have been Air Arms diablo Field 16 grain 5.52 head - JSB Exact Jumbo 15.89 grain and Daystate Rangemaster Sovereign 15.90 grains. Through the barrel they are all pretty much spot on for zero, with the Air Arms possibly slighty better than the other two, although power wise the Daystates gave a slightly higher Ft/Lb overall. Each barrel, even from the same brand may be different, so its best to test four or five to see which gives the best accuracy, or the best power. Accuracy is always best, but to keep legal, you will have to see which produces more power. I have also tested Accupell FT and Falcon accuracy plus, which are lighter, but faster than the above. Test, trial and error to reach your goal. Good Luck!

problem there is if its ever tested by plod they can use anything they want (or their testing labs can) to test, get a couple of heavy pellets and set with them to get a max of 11.5, then do your head (and you wallet) in finding the most accurate for what you want to do, a lot say run as close as you can to the max limit as if we all run well below they will eventually reduce it saying all are using that limit but I think that is less likely to lead to a change in legislation than more being found to be over it

I'd set to 11.5 with Bisley Magnums at about 130 bar (about the peak power on all of my S4*0 rifles).
