S200 main spring problem may be?

Fri Jan 12, 2018 4:15 pm

Hello all. I have a problem and that is the ft-lbs has dropped, originally set to 11.5 but I reduced it to 11.2 as this was a good compromise power and pellet count. Noticed that the power was varying and was at 10.2 ft-lbs.
Easy I thought put a turn on the main spring screw, not so, managed to set to 11.1 but that was with the screw wound in until the gun would not cock and backing off 1 turn!!
So I guess the question is do the springs collapse? It has only had about 2000 pellets through it since it was replaced.
Grateful for any ideas chaps.
Many thanks.
Regards.
Geoff.

There is a 6 ftlb hammer spring as well, and that's what it might be, my S200 is doing about 11.15 and the hammer screw is hanging out of the back of the action by quite a bit. Rog

Do they have a "plastic" firing valve? , my 400 dropped 1.5ftlbs when it's firing valve became ridged, replaced and went straight back up.

Hello well the hammer spring started about 1 turn in and was running at 11.4/5. then it varied from 11 and then dropped to 9 and then about 10 I say about because it was not consistent. It settled at 10.2 . I wanted about 11-11.3 . But winding the screw right in then the maximum was 11 ish (10.9/11.1). If I had wound it in that much before it was 13+. ERR very plus.
It does have a plastic firing valve.
Thanks I am going to strip it and see. have ordered a new spring. I will come back and let you know what happens.
Cheers.
Geoff.

Check out some other possible issues like ...
1. Pellet clipping moderator / stripper as it exits?
2. Venturi screw choking the transfer port too much?
3. Latch Washer (CZ058) and the M4 x 6 Screw (CZ059) that tightens it - Are they leaking air out?

May well be a 6 ft.lb spring but the above can also bring power down.

Hello thank you, venturi screw is wound out clear of port. Pellet clipping - no silencer removed.
Sorry but what is the Latch Washer (CZ 058) please.
I cant use emails at the moment so cant down load diagrams.
Spring was obtained from Adrian, 2000 or so pellets ago, so it should have been correct. Please note that it was fine with the screw flush with the block to start with hence why I thought of the spring collapsing.
Thanks.
Cheers.

grease or oil on the hammer and hammer rail (or is it hammer bore on S200?) will seriously lower power. Must be clean and dry.

Hello well the hammer and bore both are polished, clean and dry. Can any one supply me with the spring dimensions please. number of coils, length, ID or OD and wire gauge. Just to try and see if the spring has collapsed. There is just a niggle going on that that may be the problem.
Sorry to keep on but no one has answered the question if they do collapse??
And what is the Latch Washer please.
Thanks.
Geoff.

The latch washer and the screw beneath it seals off a construction hole in the transfer port within the main body of the S200 action.

In a nutshell, the barrel and the air cylinder are vertically in line with each other. The transfer port connects the two, allowing air from the cylinder to come out of the firing valve, up through the transfer port and then out through the barrel. So the air takes 2 x 90 degree turns. The vertical leg of this turning path is via a hole that is drilled from the bottom of the action. This hole is sealed with the part numbers CZ58 and CZ59. See below in the middle of the picture ...

The screw goes through the trigger guard and can easily be mistaken for just something that holds the trigger guard in place whereas it actually performs a much more critical function.

Raj thank you for the information, when I had previously taken the trigger out to clean everything up then I did check 59 to see if it was tight and it was.
I have just now removed it and the latch plate 58 looks flat in the diagram but it is bent down in mine, is this correct and if not is it OK to gently flatten it, please?
Thanks again.
Cheers.
Geoff.
