S400 Barrel Shroud

Wed Dec 14, 2016 8:44 pm

Good evening, My name is Simon and I have just purchased a second hand S400 and was wondering if anyone has ever tried, or indeed, been successful in shrouding an S400 barrel?

Many thanks

You will find that there isn't enough of a gap to shroud the barrel.

Although people have sleeved in carbon fibre tube to change the appearance with 12mm I/d and 14mm o/d. The barrel band may need to be changed for a Rowan 14mm one though unless you do it in 2 parts.

That's a good point was you thinking of a shroud or a sleeve.

when i had my s400 I bought some carbon fibre tube off ebay ( I think it was 12mm internal diam, )I cut this into 2 sections , one up too the barrel band and then one after it,i had a moderator fitted too it so it was easy too butt up the carbon fibre tube too the mod.it was really for looks more than anything else ,it didn't make any difference to sound level . hope this is of help too you . paul.

Ditto. It does protect the barrel from knocks scratches as well and might help stop it bending. I went the two-piece route, but I think I might splash out on the 14 mm barrel band and go one-piece if I ever do it again.

i now have the best of both worlds with an a/a 510 ,already shrouded and quieter, and super smooth cocking action with the side lever. for me has to be the best air rifle I have ever owned/shot. mind the a/a200 I have is just as accurate and great for slr shooting.paul

I bought 50cm length of 16mm OD 14mm ID Carbon Fibre tube for under a fiver on Ebay (direct from Hong Kong). I cut it so it sits either side of the barrel clamp. I did have to file a taper where the shroud fits between the barrel and the Cylinder/Receiver where the gap is less than 1mm.
