S200 Bolt Removal

Sat Dec 03, 2016 7:15 pm

I have noticed that the last 1/4" of bolt travel is difficult enough to cause concern.
I initially thought it was a magazine alignment prob but its the same closing on an empty chamber.
About 2 weeks ago I had a jam and forced a pellet through.
The rifle is still shooting MOA but I feel that if I continue use I may cause damage.
I intend to to remove the bolt and roll it on a mirror to see if everything is straight.
I cannot find any instructions on how to remove the bolt and would be very grateful for any help on this issue.

Thanks Rob.

You need to get an exploded diagram from Julian, part no 13 is the receiver body, on the body is a screw part no 10 undo, underneath is a spring and a small ball bearing, take out, then on side of the loading bolt probe is the loading bolt screw plus 2 roller bushes, once out the bolt will pull out. Thank you Roger.
Will remove bolt when I get a chance but took the stock off last night and didn't realise how many moving parts are connected to it.
From the outside the bolt looks OK but will have to get it out to eliminate it.
Noticed last 1/4" of travel is tight going in and out and the action of the bolt feels rough despite been lubed.
Suspect it might be something in the action and if so it will have to go to the menders.
In hindsight its an old rifle which is used daily so the least I owe it is good overhaul.

Look at the bolt/probe when you cock It, you will see an indentation where the ball bearing sits, I think this could be your problem. Rog

Removed retainer unfortunately no difference.
Cleaned everything in sight and put a thicker lube on the bolt which considerably improved things but there is still a roughness within.
Will do a total stripdown when I get a quiet spell and find out what the issue is.
And update this thread.
Thanks again Roger.

Please check if the rollers - Nos. 17, 29 (x 2), 26 are all moving freely on screw No.18. If they are sticky, the screw can come loose and still work on the wrong thread at an incorrect angle. This makes the bolt action rough.
Also, get a magnifying glass and take a close look at the slot that they run in in the Breech Body (No.13). If this is worn or has developed score marks on it, then it gets expensive.
Finally, the plastic cocking arm guide No.49 can crack where the screw holes are countersunk. This will also cause sticky bolt at the end of its travel.
And what Roger said ... the retainer screw needs to be quite loose. The slightest bit of over tightening will cause grittiness.

if all this started after you had it jam and forced it then try this before you do any thing else, degrease the probe as well as you can, use a black marker pen and cover the whole tip of the probe, refit it, work it in and out a couple of times then strip it gently and see if/where the ink has been rubbed off, you may have a bent probe

The Czechs have indeed packed a lot into a tiny little rifle mechanism. All simple, functional and easy to service components but very beautifully put together 8-)
