On a still day the rifle will print 2 inch groups with the odd flyer all day long, add a little wind and it all goes tits up with groups opening up to the width of the target. I did make one large step forward going over to the JSB heavy pellets, the drop goes up by a large degree but the heavier pellets buck the wind much better than the 8.44 grain Air arms. With JSB heavy pellets in a 2-3 MPH wind the spread on the groups stays for the most part bellow 5 inches.
Using a CZ425 with subsonic rounds at the same range in the same conditions im getting very similar results but with a lot more consistancey on grouping.
I cant help but think a boat tail pellet would be some of the answer to improving scores at 100 and 120 yards but at sub 12 foot pound energies I doubt they would stabalise. Mind you i have never seen such a beast for sale so I think im stuck with never knowing.
The other thing I would say is removing the moderator makes a huge difference at the longer ranges. Im not getting any pellet clipping as the moderator was set up using a bore plug but when its fitted the groups go tits up again. My thinking is turbulant air in the baffle system but in truth I dont realy know.
