Re: Shortening the first stage of trigger
I agree with Rog, and I also wouldn't recommend shortening what is a safety feature. At least you get to vote for your president. Ours gets decided in a Brussels conclave. And you know your president's name. I presume you have at least applied moly grease to the bolt and worked it in? It’s a monthly task IMO.

I like those chefs brûlée torches. Tiny little pointy flame. Or soldering iron direct on the brass.

... unless the bad loading is due to ill fitting brassware .
Yes the brass should not be loctited into the body. Thought you were going to free that off?

Re: Air Arms S400F Carbine .177
Tight doesn't mean airtight. If the brass is not loctited to the barrel theres a small air escape route downwind of the breech seal. May not be a significant air loss.

Re: Air Arms S410 Carbine - Randomosity
I would have polished the hsmmer rail with brasso and kept it either dry or with dri-slide dry moly treatment. If the variation is vertical only then hammer rail or piwer can be a cause. If it’s all over the place then try without the moderator first of all then check the mag isn't clipping pellets....
