Re: S400 regulator

Was thinking of fitting the altaros reg as I don't fancy drilling the cylinder, has anyone fitted one of these? I fitted an Altaros regulator in the past, being a lazy guy it looked much easier to install As soon as I reassembled the rifle I experienced a serious air leak from the firing valve. The...

Re: Airstripper

All I did was set the cone at it's minimum position, shot about five pellets, noted the grouping, moved the cone out about 1mm and shot another five pellets. In my case I got the tightest grouping at just over half of the cone's travel. That's exactly how I did it. I have a black aluminum one for m...

Re: Looking for an anti-bounce hammer (S400)

Hi, Mark

it's a .177, and I'm getting about 80 good regulated shots.
Still working on it, though... :)
My estimate was 100-110.

Re: Looking for an anti-bounce hammer (S400)

Well, I'll answer my own question... :D

Apparently Robert Lane is re-designing the anti-bounce hammer he used to make.
Should be available later this year, so he says.

Looking for an anti-bounce hammer (S400)

Anti-bounce hammer for an S400 Classic. Does anybody know of someone making/selling one of these? Having just fitted a Rob Lane regulator, after tuning I find I get the power level I was aiming for, but fewer shots than I had estimated. Knowing the S400 easily suffer from hammer bounce , I was rese...

Re: S400 cylinder disassembly

No damage from rust, it was only very superficial.
Anyway, I will inspect the cylinder interior at least once a year.

Having switched from a hand pump to a scuba tank will also help reduce moisture...

Re: S400 cylinder disassembly

Success I ended up using a combination of the above... First I wrapped the cylinder in a silicon foil for protection, using a pair of hose clamps to provide additional grip. Clamped it in a vise, heated with a soldering hot air gun, and removed the fill valve using a large spanner wrench. The remain...

Re: S400 cylinder disassembly

Thanks for the suggestions.
This coming week-end I will empty the cylinder again, apply heat and see if I can get the fill valve assembly loose.
I'll keep you posted...
