Re: tx200hc low power
I don't think you'd lose nearly half your power because you were shooting on a hot day. It COULD be your piston seal but you might want to have a look at your spring or your breech seals. Note - there are two of them, one on top of the other.

Re: TX200 mk3
The biggest single improvement to my TX 200 Mk III was probably polishing both spring ends. This eliminated twang as well as noticeable torque.

Re: Piston sleeve
I suspect the scraping is because the fit between the spring and the piston was already pretty close. The purpose of the tophat is to keep the spring centered in the piston. If the tolerance is too close on your brass sheet the scraping may continue indefinitely. It shouldn't hurt anything, though. ...

Re: Tx200 power drop
I'd go with piston seal, spring, or breech seal. Breech seal is easiest to test by laying a tissue over the loading port and firing. If tissue blows breech seal is defective.
It is also possible latching cocking arm is not pushing far enough forward to seal.

Re: steel cocking shoes
On the Air Rifle Headquarters website they are located under "Today's Specials".
For 12 fpe rifles you may not need them. For the FAC rifles they are a wise investment.
I have found they make cocking smoother than stock cocking shoes and they help ensure a better breech seal lockup.

Re: Cocking link ...
If you check your manual, or the online version from Air Arms, they bot appear to use the same part, Part Number 12, TX290 Cocking Link. The barrels are different, however.

Re: TX200 safety not engaging
If the cocking shoe is failing the first thing you may lose is the safety. The gun will next refuse to latch the sear.
I don't know about you but that was my experience. I replaced the sintered shoe with a machined one from Air Rifle Headquarters.
Problem solved.

Re: TX200 twanging
While the gun's apart I strongly recommend polishing both ends of your spring.
I like to use wet or dry sandpaper on a flat under water. This has reduced or eliminated twang for me.

You might also consider the New Tesla MK 2 (http://www.airrifleheadquarters.com/cat ... 390459.htm) from Air Rifle Headquarters. It is specified for a TX 200.
